"THE DOGCATCHER" WINS THE GRAND PRIZE AT FLICKERS’ RHODE ISLAND IFF!

The film "The Dogcatcher," directed by Daria Woszek, won the Best Short Film Grand Prize at the 20th edition of Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival. The award enables the film to apply for the Academy Award.

The latest film by Daria Woszek, "The Dogcatcher," produced by All Muses and Cor Leonis Production, was awarded the Best Short Film Grand Prize at the recently finished Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. The award brings even more joy because thanks to it, the authors of "The Dogcatcher" may apply for the Award of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"The Dogcatcher" is a black comedy telling a story of a man who kidnaps dogs for ransom, however, returns them in glory of a saviour. One day he kidnaps a German shepherd that turns out to be a stray dog. The film has already been shown at film festivals in Poland (among others, at Warsaw Film Festival, Camerimage, Krakow Film Festival and New Horizons) and abroad at Palm Springs ShortFest International Short Film Festival.

The Flickers' Rhode Island IFF, which celebrated its 20th edition this year, was held from August 9 to 14. In the programme of the festival, 273 films from 67 countries were screened. The closing gala was held last Sunday, August 14, in Metcalf Auditorium, RISD Museum in Providence. The film director, Daria Woszek, was present at the closing gala and collected the award in person.

It is worth to add that at the same festival, in the feature-length documentary film category, the film "Two Worlds" by Maciej Adamek was awarded.
